The global approval programme for cruelty-free brands

When a brand is awarded Cruelty Free International approval, it’s more than a business decision – it’s a commitment to compassion, integrity, and meaningful global change. Together with our approved brands, we’re proving that a world without animal testing for consumer products isn’t just possible in the future – it’s happening today.

The Cruelty Free International Approval Programme with its distinctive logo isn’t just a label – it’s a global commitment to raising the bar beyond legal requirements.

  • One product.

  • One purchase.

  • Lasting change.

We’re dedicated to ending animal testing for cosmetics and household products worldwide. With support from our approved brands, we’re moving closer to a future where animal testing for all consumer products is consigned to history – one product, one purchase at a time.

A closer look at our global approval programme

Global in scope, the Cruelty Free International Approval Programme with its distinctive logo requires cruelty-free standards over and above laws relating to animal testing.

To be approved a brand must adhere to a fixed cut-off date policy and proactively monitor its suppliers to ensure that its approved products continue to adhere to our strict criteria. Its supplier monitoring system must also be independently audited.

Our global approval programme currently covers products in the following categories:

  • Cosmetics and personal care
  • Household and cleaning
  • Animal care

Brands can apply for approval for their own-brand products in all or any of these product categories. Check out our Approval Programme briefing note in the Resource Centre for more information about how our standards go over and above laws relating to animal testing.
