First company in Thailand certified as cruelty free with the Leaping Bunny!
In a fantastic leap forward for animals, Sponge Me, has been Leaping Bunny certified – the international no-animal-testing programme.
Sponge Me is the first company to be certified in Thailand, and demonstrates the global trend towards cruelty free consumer products.
Sponge Me specialises in Konjac Cleansing Sponges made of 100% Konjac powder. Konjac is a root-based vegetable that the Japanese have traditionally used as a detoxifying dietary staple, and as a calming, naturally exfoliating sponge for delicate skin. People in Japan have been eating Konjac for over 1,500 years. Today, it is grown wild and in farms at very high altitudes, which help to keep the sponge extremely pure and free of pollutants.
Sponge Me’s Managing Director, Mallika Matta, is passionate about being certified as cruelty free by the Leaping Bunny. She told us: “We’re thrilled to be the first company in Thailand to be Leaping Bunny certified by Cruelty Free International, and we can’t wait to spread the cruelty free message in everything we do!”
In order to become Leaping Bunny certified by Cruelty Free International, companies are required to adopt a cut-off date, open their supply chain to monitoring, and open up to external audit requirements. Sponge Me joins over 600 companies to have obtained Leaping Bunny certification.
The Leaping Bunny logo is the symbol of the international no-animal-testing certification programme, issued for use by companies which produce cosmetic, personal care and cleaning products which comply with our strict criteria.
