Walk, run or cycle 192km to raise funds for a cruelty-free future

We are delighted that England Lionesses football legend Keira Walsh MBE is supporting our fundraising challenge, Move for the Millions, which starts on 1 June.

The Chelsea midfielder and two-time European Champion, who has won 100 international caps, said: “I’m honoured to support Move for the Millions, and join such an important cause. It is unthinkable that 192 million animals are used in experiments every year, despite there being many reliable non-animal methods available. Ending animal testing will be a global team effort, and this is the perfect way to help Cruelty Free International change the lives of millions of animals around the world.”

If you haven’t signed-up yet, click here to help raise awareness of the 192 million animals used in scientific experiments around the world every year, and raise vital funds to support our work to end animal testing everywhere.

Participants are asked to run, walk or cycle 192km during the month of June, either individually or as part of a team, and raise £192 each to create a cruelty-free future for animals in laboratories.

In comparison, Walsh runs about 10km per match, on average, with the Lionesses team as a whole covering over 110km in 90 minutes.

Our CEO, Michelle Thew, said: “I’m so excited that Keira is supporting ‘Move for the Millions’. Her passion, energy and leadership on the pitch sets an example to all of us, and I hope that she inspires other people to take part. Everyone’s support is invaluable, and every step, kilometre, or minute counts in raising awareness and funds to fight for a cruelty-free world.

“It is shocking that we are still having to fight on behalf of animals in laboratories, and that animal testing continues to touch all of our lives – especially when advances in new non-animal testing methods should be helping us move away from using animals in science. People around the world have told us that they want animal testing to end, and events like ‘Move for the Millions’ can help our work to make that a reality.”
