To mark World Animal Day (4th October), we were absolutely thrilled to announce that Grupo Boticário - the Brazilian based cosmetics, fragrance and skin care company – has been Leaping Bunny approved.

The group owns six of the biggest beauty brands in Brazil and features in over 4,000 stores globally. Amongst these brands is O Boticário, the largest beauty franchise in the world. Grupo Boticário has joined over 1,000 companies worldwide in displaying the Leaping Bunny logo, demonstrating a commitment to removing animal testing from its supply chain.

Launched 40 years ago, Grupo Boticário’s brands and stores can be found throughout Brazil and in 15 other countries.

Our CEO Michelle Thew said: “We were thrilled to celebrate this World Animal Day by welcoming the amazing Grupo Boticário to the Leaping Bunny family. Becoming Leaping Bunny approved is a challenging process that involves a company working through its entire supply chain right down to ingredient and raw material level.

“For a company this size, this is a huge undertaking and shows just how serious Grupo Boticário is about being cruelty free and ending the suffering of animals for cosmetics. With the world’s largest cosmetics franchise, Grupo Boticário demonstrates that it is possible to be global and innovative without cosmetics tests on animals.”

Paulo Roseiro, Grupo Boticário’s Research & Development Director, said: “In 2020 we will celebrate 20 years without animal testing. The recognition of Leaping Bunny approval reflects our work, our pioneering spirit in Brazil in developing alternative methodologies and, above all, our values.”
