Cruelty Free International hosts Congressional event in Washington DC
Cruelty Free International's Congressional Briefing ('Global regulations and advancements in alternatives to animal testing for cosmetics') in the U.S, hosted in cooperation with Congressman Jim Moran, author of the Humane Cosmetics Act, has been a great success. Our Chief Executive, Michelle Thew and Congressman Moran both presented to a well attended meeting.
Congressman Moran said: 'I am pleased to join Cruelty Free International in celebrating the first anniversary of the European Union’s ban on the sale of animal tested cosmetics. My bill, the Humane Cosmetics Act, is an opportunity for the United States to catch up with the rest of the world by ending the cruel treatment of animals and encouraging the use of modern scientific testing methods. I look forward to working with Cruelty Free International to build support for this legislation.'
With the introduction of the Humane Cosmetics Act and Cruelty Free International’s new scientific cosmetics report to help governments move away from animal tests, we are hopeful that it won’t be long before animal cosmetics testing here in the U.S is consigned to history.
